Isn’t this delicious?!
November 20, 2008

Most of us regularly use more than one computer and that’s where Delicious, the easy-to-use, free social bookmarking site, really comes in to its own.
Delicious allows you to tag, save, and manage your favourite/useful websites. You simply ‘bookmark’ the web pages that interest you. Think of it as a portable ‘favourites’ facility; wherever you are, whichever computer you’re using, you can still search through your favourite/bookmarked sites online.
Of course, there’s more to it than convenient access to your favourite sites. Not surprisingly, it’s a popular social tool, boasting 5 million users and 150 million bookmarked sites. You can share your discoveries with your friends and family, and use the site’s Network feature to keep track of the Delicious tags and users that interest you
If you would like to check the extent of your delicious network try Network Explorer for extra insight.
And if spotting trends is your thing, the sight has a hotlist on its home page that allows you to check out its most popular tags … simply Delicious!

Escaped tiger enjoys a night time stroll in Italy.
There’s no pussyfooting around when it comes to rounding up a stray moggie this size.
So Italian police really earned their stripes when they had to catch a fully grown Siberian tiger as it took a stroll through town after escaping from a circus.

How to deal with recruitment agencies?
November 5, 2008
How do you know if your recruitment agency is the best one to meet your needs? Indeed, how do you know if the recruitment agency you are choosing will actually work hard to ensure that you secure the best jobs possible? With so many recruitment agencies to choose from, particularly in Bristol, it can be really difficult to decide which one to choose.
Well, here are some tips to steer you in the right direction. First of all, particularly in Bristol or any big city, it can be helpful to choose a recruitment agency that is quite local, simply because if you want to keep dropping in to see what is available, then its much easier to do so if they are just around the corner or a short walk away. Remember that you will have to pay for travel costs if you have to get two buses to get there!
Does the recruitment agency have an online section? This will not only cut down travel costs, but if they have a web presence, then they will attract more positions and seem that little bit more professional.
When you contact them, do they seem professional and helpful when they are dealing with you? If they have an air of not being too bothered then they certainly will not find good positions coming their way!
Does your recruitment agency take a fair share for their services and overheads, or do you feel that they are simply taking too much? Fees charged can vary, so check out what they are getting and what you are getting: if it smacks of exploitation, then go to another agency! Sometimes, agencies are coy about the percentage they take, but a few discreet questions will usually give you a good idea of whether you are being treated fairly.
Finally, as unprofessional as this sounds, if you go to register with a recruitment agency and you just have a gut feeling that you don’t really like them and it isn’t going to be a good working relationship, then simply go elsewhere: there are plenty to choose from, so don’t settle for second best.

Media Mouse: Bristol CC PR goes head-to-head with Bristol Blogger!

I am a mouse in need! (Pic - darny)

Eeek! This is good … and I don’t want any ASDA value cheese for this one!
It seems that the Bristol Blogger (again) has got under the skin of the Bristol City Council’s press department.
A recent BB post has elicited the following response from Simon Caplin (Head of PR for the Bristol CC).
“Please can you stick to the issues and not hide behind your anonymity to slander employees at the council who are doing their best to communicate information to the public and playing their part in promoting road safety.”
I’ll let you make you own mind up as to who is right or wrong … but it makes great viewing from the PRBristol cage!
